July 2016 – POLAND – “The world is at war because it has lost peace,” he told reporters. “This is war. The world has been at war for a while now … We had the war of 1914, then the war in 1939-45, and now this one.” His comments come after a spate of ISIS-linked attacks across Europe in recent weeks — but he was clear not to describe the conflict along sectarian lines. He said this was “not an organic war, perhaps. It’s organized, but not organic. But it’s war.” He said the conflict was not “a religious war,” adding that “all religions preach peace — it’s the others who want war.”
Tuesday’s attack saw two assailants armed with knives storm a church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray and cut the throat of 85-year-old Father Jacques Hamel. Officials said the two attackers shouted “Allahu Akbar” before being shot dead by security forces. French President Francois Hollande blamed the “cowardly acts” on ISIS-linked terrorists. Pope Francis said Hollande had called him to express his condolences. “I want to thank all of those who offered their sympathy, especially France’s president, who talked to me over the phone like a brother,” he said. He also referenced ISIS’ other victims — many of whom are Muslims. “This priest, who died as he was leading churchgoers to prayer, is one [victim],” he said. “But how many Christians, how many innocent children [have died]?”
The attack came before World Youth Day, one of the biggest catholic gatherings in the world. Polish authorities introduced exceptional security measures to protect the up to 2 million young pilgrims expected to descend on Krakow. Around 20,000 Polish police and military personnel have been deployed across the city. Pilgrims will be asked to go through mobile X-rays and metal detectors at railway and bus stations. –NBC
A retrospective from March 23, 2015 – The Third World War has begun, in spite of the fact that few people recognize it. The conflict isn’t between communist and free, as we long expected, but instead between Muslim and the rest of the world. Although militant Muslims in Iraq and Syria have stolen the headlines, it is not long before we see them around the world, making a play for power. Right away, one fact needs to be straightened out. Many apologists and politically correct people will make an immediate distinction between Islamic terrorists and what they refer to as mainstream Islam. According to these people, the terrorists are the extremists and Islam is a religion of peace.
This thinking needs to be reframed. The militants are responding to the kafir (non-Muslims) as directed by the Quran. The book is very clear. You have a few basic options. You may convert, flee with nothing, pay a punishing tax, or die. These Muslims truly believe they are doing Allah’s work in killing the infidel. They are also more capable of doing this work than at any time in the past.
Christ foretold of Christian persecution: “They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.” -John 16:2
The militants now have modern technology and they have leveraged it to broadcast their mission. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube have all been leveraged to terrible effect. The Islamic State produces slick videos, even videos which depict brutal executions have a staged, finished quality to them. The message is subtle but clear-these are not ordinary terrorists and this is not an ordinary movement. The terrorists are already recruiting in the United States and around the globe. Hundreds of fighters have come from the west and thousands more from other countries around the world.
The Islamic State has sympathizers everywhere. Islam is not confined to a state. The religion has no regard for what a passport says. One is either in or out, an ally or an enemy. Examine your life. What do you think you are to Islam? The black banner of the Islamic State has appeared in the Philippines, in Nigeria, Somalia, and North Africa. In the western regions of North Africa, militant Islamists are growing in power and soon they too will grab their share of headlines. The world has not seen such a threat from Islam since the battles of Tours (732) and Vienna (1529).
World War III has started and we remain asleep. How much longer before we get serious about this very real, existential threat to Christianity and our nation? The only defense is to turn back toward God, to convert souls to Christ and abandon our wickedness. Only then will we have the moral strength to confront Islam and stop the world-eating movement in its tracks. –Catholic on Line
